Searching for the right spot to set up your bounce house for the day may take time. But, when you find the right piece of land, both flat and level to provide equal support for the inflatable device, the search will have been well worth it. However, even in a perfect location, there may be potential problems, namely involving the grass. During takedown, the grass that was underneath the bounce house set-up may become degraded and dying due to the weight of the bouncer upon it for so many hours. Luckily for you, there are ways to avoid this issue that you can easily plan for.
The simplest way to avoid grass and nature damage while using your bouncer is to include a tarp in the set-up process. Find a tarp that is large enough for your bounce house to sit on without touching the grass. It doesn’t matter if the tarp is made from cloth, plastic, vinyl, or any other material, just as long as it has a larger area of coverage than the bounce house does. Make sure that the tarp can lay flat on the ground when completely unfolded, as a stacked tarp will add additional pressure on the grass. Measure out the land of your yard and tarp before continuing. Once you’ve laid the tarp completely flat on the ground, lay the bounce house on top of it in the same manner. This will prevent the tarp from blowing away or folding back up again. Attach the blower, and fully inflate the bounce house. The tarp will prevent the grass from being crushed by the bouncer, and
If you find yourself using a permanent location to set up your bounce house, it may be wise to provide extra care for the grass in between inflatable usage. Provide this piece of land with more water and sustenance than other locations. Keep a limit on the additional water, and remember to space out the watering, as an excessive treatment can lead to the unintentional suffocation of the grass. This will preserve the quality of your yard, keeping it green and healthy, in spite of the frequent bounce house usage.
Always remember that you don’t necessarily have to set up your inflatable device on grass. An inflatable device can be supported on concrete in parks, driveways, and other locations when additional space is an issue. All you have to do in this scenario is replace the stakes holding the bounce house to the ground with sandbags. In these situations, a tarp underneath the bounce house is not required, but will not hurt to include, as the condition of the pavement may scratch the bounce house during usage. A general guideline for bounce house set-up is as follows: if the ground of the set-up location is on grass, then use stakes and spikes. If the ground is solid, use sandbags. Stick to grass or concrete whenever you can. Sand (at the beach for summer parties) and dirt (in parks and yards) might be able to support a bounce house’s weight in theory, but there is no safe way to secure the bounce house into these substances, no matter the system you choose.
